Quarter 1

Welcome Back Wranglers! I am so excited to get back to a normal way of creating and sharing art with all of you. Here is a look at what Rawhide has accomplished in Quarter 1 for the 2021-2022 school year, so far:

First Grade

Mona Lisa Emoji Self-Portraits

If these don't make you smile, you might be dead! We looked at the art and inventions of Leonardo DaVinci and then created a spunky, emoji version of a self-portrait.

Abstract Horses

We read What's the Most Beautiful Thing You Know About Horses? and then created an abstract scene.

Second Grade

Van Gogh Sunflowers

We studied the art and life of Vincent Van Gogh then created our own soft-chalk pastel version of his Sunflowers masterpiece. We then began clay bowls, but had to start swimming. Stay tuned!

Third Grade

Space Collage

Students learned a new watercolor technique of wet-on-wet painting to create spectacular planets and them applied them to splatter paint backgrounds.

Tribal Snakes

Students looked at native tribal designs from Africa and then created a simple snake drawing filled with inspired patterns.

Fourth Grade

Color Wheel Webs

Students learned about the color wheel and complementary colors by creating this web. They started out with all 6 colors, then went down to just the primaries to mix to make the secondaries.

Fifth Grade

Mallo Shirts

Students got the time and opportunity to color and design the back of their Mallo camp shirt. The theme is environment, so students had to create a unique space with in their bucking bronco.

WamPum Bracelets

Students created an original Mallo camp project that has since been retired, the WamPum bracelet from Northeast Native American Art. They had to created a unique pattern within their design.

Sixth Grade

Keep Calm Parody Posters

Students learned about propaganda posters from the WWII era and related this imagery to the influences in the media today. They then created their own parody version of this historic and meaningful poster.
