Handprint Rainbow

Junior kindergarten and Kindergarten worked together to make this giant rainbow to display in our Rawhide hallway.

"Be a Rainbow in someone else's cloud."

Kindergarten Mosaic Rainbows

Kindergarten worked really hard at developing their essential fine motor skills to create their own rainbows from tiny pieces of paper and fluffy cotton balls.

"The Dot" First Grade

First grade heard one of my favorites "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds and celebrated National Dot Day by painting bright watercolors on coffee filters.

"Just make a mark and see where it takes you."

Second Grade Posters

Second grade filled in "All About Me Posters"

to better get to know their fellow classmates and to introduce them to the school (as they hang in the hallways).

Second Grade Symmetry

Second grade explored symmetry and color mixing by doing this quick string art design by using string dipped in the primary colors, laying them on one side of their paper, folding and pulling it out to see what mixing and symmetry were displayed.

Third Grade Group Keith Haring Art

Third grade worked as a team in groups to create these giant Keith Haring inspired characters by playing "Roll-a-Haring,." These are always sure to impress!

Fourth Grade Positive & Negative Designs

Fourth grade created some amazing examples of creative positive and negative designs in this paper collage assignment.

Fourth Grade Bean Mosaics

Fourth grade created their own safer version of a mosaic by using beans to create a basic shape and then repeating the shape. We've received a lot of compliments about these!

Fifth Grade Potted Cacti

Fifth grade created these colorful works with watercolor pencils, one of Ms. Lewis' favorite mediums! They drew realistic cacti in Mexican inspired pottery.

Sixth Grade Color Theory Names

Sixth grade explored the idea of marketing and font when they selected their font on their name art. They also displayed value and color schemes in these!

Kindergarten & 2nd Grade Buzzing Bees

Kindergarten and second grade at Recluse Elementary created these buzzing works of art after learning about bee habitats and the complex shape: hexagon. Then, they made prints of hexagons to represent the hive and fingerprints with drawn wings and antennae to represent the bees.

Third, fourth and fifth grades at Recluse Elementary created their own versions of Edvard Munchs' famous painting "The Scream."

6th-8th Thayer Camouflage

Sixth, seventh and eighth grades at Recluse Elementary created a camouflage critters with oil pastels after learning about Abbot Thayer's invention of camouflage.
