Junior Kindergarten created fun and unique monsters using shapes of paper! We discovered the difference between shape and form and will continue to work on this concept.

Kindergarten revisited their pattern concepts and added bold and brilliant patterns to their sarcophagus we drew together in a guided drawing. We also learned about the Egyptian traditions of mummifying.
Kindergarten Green Eggs & Ham

Kindergarten heard "Green Eggs & Ham" by Dr. Suess in celebration of his birthday and then created fabulous plates decorated with rhyming words, stippling eggs and cutting out a felt ham.
First Grade Symmetry Butterflies
First grade studied symmetry and what that looks like in nature and in art. Then, they created a symmetrical butterfly by painting shapes, lines and colors.
K-2nd Mona Lisa Emoji
Mona Lisa Emoji's
Kindergarten and second grade visited DaVinci's "Mona Lisa" and explored what it might look like to combine an emoji with the famous face.
Second Grade Mehndi Hands
Mehndi Hands
Second grade heard the book "Nadia's Hands" and learned about Afghanistan culture, especially about the practice of staining their hands with henna for special ceremonies. Then they created their own hand designs and printed them with ink.
Third Grade Tribal Snake

Third grades explored African tribal designs and incorporated those lines and shapes into their snakes. They used oil pastels for the snake and chalk pastel for the background.
Fourth Grade Radial Design

Fourth grade used a compass, markers or colored pencils to create these beautiful, symmetrical designs. They each made their designs unique by choosing a symbol that represents their interests.
Sixth & Eighth Grade Collaborative Britto Project
Britto Collaborative
Sixth, seventh and eighth graders at Recluse each created 2-3 cardboard disks in the style of Romero Britto with marker. They worked together to connect the pieces with slits in the cardboard.
