Teachers are able to play any YouTube videos through our filter. However many, many videos on YouTube require approval before the video will play for students on their Chromebooks.
Before embedding or linking to a YouTube video you should pull it up on your computer, laptop or Chromebook (phones may or may not have the Approve button). Make sure the blue bar below the video shows approved for case.k12.wi.us. If not, click the Approve button.
Not approved, click the Approve button.
This video is approved and should play for students.
Entire YouTube channels can be approved as well.
Click on the name of the channel above the Subscribe button.
On the right side, click the APPROVE button.
If the page is refreshed and the Approve button reappears, add?disable_polymer=true to the end of the Channel URL.This video should play since the channel is approved.
If you do not see the blue bar, make sure you are logged into your RCS email account at https://www.youtube.com. You should see your picture in the upper right corner of the screen.
If you still don't see the blue bar, email Mr. Cook to be added to the Teacher's Google Group.
Students need to be logged into YouTube for approved videos to play correctly.
Direct students to https://www.youtube.com
Have them click the Sign In button then click on their school email address. This will log them into YouTube and approved videos will play correctly.
