As we head into the spring break, I hope you enjoy whatever you do during the holidays. If your family celebrate Easter, we hope you have an egg-cellent (sorry) few days and wish you well through your Lenten journey. Many of you will continuing your Ramadan fast and we also wish you well. When we come back to school, we will only have a couple of weeks worth of April left and we're looking forward to a bit more sunshine than we've been having in March!
As a school, we always strive to help children understand the world around them through our Learn Together Ethical Education Curriculum. Our pupils have been central over the last few years in trying to do right for their community and country, whether that was through organising Carlow Town's first Climate Change Protest or through their participation in representing their county in the Dáil advocating for Active Travel in Carlow Town. As a result of their amazing work, a number of students have been invited to Brussels to visit the headquarters of the EU. Our school was the frst school in Carlow Town to be invited to sign a pledge in Carlow College ensuring that we will embrace equality and we will not discriminate on any of the nine grounds for discrimination.
Last month was also a very active month with the Active Committee organising a run around Ireland. Deirdre's Class and Sinéad's Class were the winners of the challenge. A massive well done to all the committee and to the students and staff for taking part! We also had great success in the county athletics competition with both our boys' team and girls' team reaching the finals. Our soccer teams did brilliantly representing the school this month wit hthe girls' team reaching the county final! Finally, we also completed our in-house handball competition for 3rd to 6th class! Phew!
Until next time, keep happy, safe and learning
