Project Homework

Please complete our survey based on the homework we have been trialing in order to give your opinion on how we are giving out homework. We will be encouraging much of the research from 3rd class upwards using Google Classroom. Please download the app on your phone to see how we encourage and help children out while they are doing their homework.

Dignity at Work

The Board of Management have ratified a Dignity at Work Policy, which is now available on the school website. Please read through it carefully to ensure you understand its implications. Questions can be sent to Simon for any clarification.

Review of Gaeilge

As part of our DEIS/SSE plan, we are focusing on the delivery of Irish in our school. Our first step was to identify what level of Irish we have as a baseline. The children took the Drumcondra Irish Standardised Tests, which is a national test, and we were pleased to see that we are performing around the national average. We have particular strengths in oral language.

App for Communication

Please download the Aladdin App to your Smartphone. This will allow you to receive instant messages from the school about upcoming events, closures, etc. It will also allow you to read your child's school reports and any documentation, as well as the ability to update your own contact information if you wish.

Parent Training- Well Being

We have Stephen Dargan booked for a 3 week training course for families. We need more people to sign up so it can go ahead. This is a rare opportunity to get free training in mindfulness and well-being and it was the most requested training from parents at the start of the year.

Class Allocation

Classes have been allocated for 2018-19. There are a number of gaps in classes due to a number of teachers on temporary contracts so you might see some names missing. Interviews will be held in the summer and we will update you when the gaps are filled.

Project Homework

Thank you to everyone that has filled in our survey for our homework pilot. You have until 3rd May to enter your thoughts. 140 pupils and 85 parents/guardians have already given their views and these will be reported to families.

Smartphones

You may have been reading about Smartphones and ownership recently. We are looking to get a speaker to talk to parents about this topic. If you know anybody, please let Simon know.
