- A drill press, or a drill machine is mainly used for drilling holes into hard materials. Typically you would use it if a regular drill just isn’t doing the job.
- In the Shop, it is located on the right wall counter upon entering.
Make sure to wear goggles! You don’t want any sawdust or other assorted shrapnel getting into your eyes/viewing orbs.
First, find the Allen Wrench/Key located on the side of the drill press. Use the key to loosen the drill bit from the press by inserting the key into the hole above the bit and twisting it. Once the bit is out, just slot another one in and twist the other way so it fits in snugly.
- Place whatever you want to drill on the drill press plate (you may want to put something else, like a spare piece of wood under it in case you drill through the material. You don’t want to damage the plate!).
- You can lower or raise the plate using the crank handle on the side of the press.
- You can test if the bit will go onto the spot you want to drill by using the lever/knob on the side of the press (it looks like three sticks will balls on the ends of them going away from each other).
- Once everything is set up, just flick the red switch on the front and top of the press to start drilling. Good luck!
