What is the Compound Miter Saw?
A miter saw is a specialized tool that lets you make cuts at a variety of angles.
Compound miter saws feature blades that pivot left and right for angled cuts and tilt in a single direction for beveled cuts.
It is useful for picture frames, crown moulding, or any project that requires angled cuts in two planes.
Safety
Wear safety glasses or goggles, or a face shield.
Wear a dust mask.
Make sure any adjustments are secure before making a cut. Only make adjustments when the power is off and the machine is not moving.
Keep hands out of the path of the blade.
Only cut one workpiece at a time
Reduce the risk of an unintentional startup. Make sure the saw switch is in the OFF position before plugging in.
How to use
Secure the saw to your workspace
Secure the wood (or workpiece) to the fence and pull the handle down to see where the blade will meet the board.
Then clamp down your piece and make sure it is secure.
Allow the motor to reach full speed before cutting
Wait for the saw to stop moving before removing the work.
