Materials you’ll need:
Soldering Pen/ hot end
Tinning Wire
Printed Circuit Board (PCB)
Pins
Steps:
Put the pins in the PCB with the configuration needed.
Turn on and heat up the soldering pen
Place the hot end of the soldering pen onto the pins and let them heat up
Touch the end of the tinning wire between the heated pins and the rings on the PCB and let it melt
Remove the soldering pen and let the tinning wire solidify.
Safety Precautions:
Always have your soldering sponge at the ready
Make sure the hot end is clean before soldering
Never touch the hot end, the heated pins, or melted wire.
Never set the pen down outside of its stand
What you'll want:
These cones shapes are indicative of a few things
1. You used a minimal amount of tinning wire
2. You have the base ring connected to the pins as solidly as possible
3. The pins are clearly not connected
What you don't want:
Too much solder was used and the three pins are not electrically connected
The hot end made contact with the rest of the PCB causing it to burn
