How to Change 3D Printing Filament on Prusa Printers

Unloading Filament

• Press the black knob to the right of the screen on the Prusa printer

• Navigate to the "Unload Filament" option

• Click on "Unload Filament" and select PLA - 215 (Depends on the filament, always check the filament spool before setting the temperature)

• Wait for nozzle to heat to appropriate temperature

• Wait for screen to read "Press the knob to unload filament" and then press the black knob

• Wait until the screen reads "Remove filament immediately"

• When it does carefully pull the filament out

• Wind the loose filament on the roller tightly so the filament doesn't get tangled

• Poke the end of the loose filament through one of the holes on the side of the spool

Loading Filament

• Press the black knob to the right of the screen on the Prusa printer

• Navigate to "Autoload Filament" and click on it

• A selection screen will appear saying the filament is ready to be inserted, click the black knob

• Select PLA - 215 (Depends on the filament, always check the filament spool before setting the temperature)

• When the nozzle reaches the appropriate temperature, insert the loose filament into feeding hole at the top of the nozzle

• Click the black knob again to begin feeding filament

• The nozzle will print a line of the filament and ask if it is the desired color, if it is click yes

**Note: if you unload and load filament in quick succession, it might skip the nozzle heating stage!
