Welcome to A level Physics. I hope you've enjoyed the start of your long summer holiday and are starting to look forward to starting in the sixth form.
Please find below some texts to get you ready for September.
If you are wanting a head start into the course I recommend this book. It is one of a series of books which can support you through the 2 years recommending a little and often approach to practising your physics and maths skills. Each volume is available for about £10.
For a more gentle and entertaining route into the course I recommend watching any of the documentary series Jim Al-Khalili has made (sometimes available on BBC iPlayer, can also be found on YouTube)
I also recommend some Radio 4 podcasts - "More or Less" is a great series for getting you thinking about numbers and maths in a critical way, "The life scientific" interviews a wide range of people at the top of their field in all forms of science and "The Curious Cases of Rutherford and Fry" investigate some slightly more offbeat science and maths topics.
Work that is expected will be completed and will form part of the first few weeks of teaching.
For the first lesson back in September I would love to find out more about what you are interested in. Please pick one development in physics and research who was responsible for it and a little about both their discoveries and their background. This should be a maximum of 1 side of A4 if typed or 2 sides handwritten. You may include diagrams and pictures. Please use your own words and reference where you got your information.
