Welcome to the Economics transition course! Some of you may be thinking of doing Economics at A level having completed the GCSE course and you will have a very good understanding of key economic issues. Others may be joining the class with no prior knowledge. Therefore, I have put together a series of materials which will recap some of the GCSE course but will also stretch you in thinking further about these issues. Please find here a series of weekly activities for a range of key economic topics. There are many videos and a number of activities for you to work through. I am not expecting you to take notes - this is designed to give you some background understanding.

The Bank of Dave is an entertainment film based on a true story.
In economics we study the banking industry as part of the course.
I would like you to watch the film and do the following:
1. Why is it that Dave wants to set up a bank?
2. What does he need in order to be able to run a bank in the UK?
3. Who are the traditional main banks that operate in the UK?
4. What basically happened in the financial crash in 2008 (you will need to research this one)
5. Why is it that after the financial crash, people and businesses found it hard to borrow money from banks?
