EPQ is, undoubtedly, a challenge in that it teaches you to work independently and manage your own progress, as well as teaching you research and academic writing skills. The rewards, however, are so important; not only could an EPQ help you to obtain a reduced offer for Undergraduate study, and help you to manage your A Levels, but new joint research from the Universities of Southampton and Leeds have identified that a student who completes an EPQ is statistically more likely to achieve a 2.1 or First class degree than someone who has not. You are also up to 29% more likely to achieve a B to A* in your A Levels if you also study for an EPQ, according to AQA research; more information can be found in the accompanying booklet called AQA Companion to EPQ.

However, possibly the most important thing about EPQ is how it can make you feel. In the words of one of our students, who has recently completed her EPQ, “I feel overwhelmed with myself. I didn’t think I’d ever be an essay writing girl but I have learned so much about myself and I am so, so proud”.
