Abstract
Abstract
In light of the recent death of disability activist Judy Heumann, and in need of sexual health resources that effectively accommodate people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), this research aims to systematically review existing sexual health resources and their level of engagement in this research from individuals with IDD. Studies will follow PRISMA protocol and be extracted from a variety of databases, and the abstracts of extracted studies will be reviewed and selected based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. The full article corresponding to selected abstracts will be reviewed prior to data extraction. Articles will be screened and analyzed using Covidence, a screening and data extraction software that facilitates systematic reviews. Preliminary analysis reveals a significant gap in adequate sexual health resources and a lack of collaboration between researchers, support staff, and individuals with IDD when assessing involvement in creating sexual health resources.
