Abstract
The purpose of this study is to establish a connection between how pandemics and epidemics, like SARS, MERS, influenza, dengue virus, Zika virus, and Ebola virus impact economies. This includes shifts in consumer behavior, changes in supply and demand, a decline in global commerce, and deficits across various industries and businesses. It's essential to know about this topic because pandemics greatly negatively impact the global economy, affecting trade, employment, and consumer behavior. Some goals are to understand the ways by which pandemics impact the economy and evaluate the effectiveness of policy responses to pandemics. Some methods for this research are statistical analysis, case studies, economic modeling, and pre-conducted surveys. Sources I am using in my research are government statistics, industry reports, news articles, academic journals, research papers, and historical data. Expected outcomes include the finding of the specific ways pandemics affect the economy, sectors of the economy that are most affected by the pandemics, insights into the factors that influence the economic impact of pandemics, development of economic strategies and policies to ease the economic impact of pandemics.
