Hi everyone,
We’ve made it to the last week in one piece!!!I’m assuming that everyone is ready to relax and enjoy the well-deserved rest and break from school activities and Seesaw!!!Well done to everyone who did so much great work during the lockdown. Some of the work you sent me was brilliant. Well done for embracing a whole new way of learning.
To 6th class, we must say a fond farewell and a big thank you for being great students throughout your time in Ballyhass. You will be missed by everyone in the school. Well done for completing your Weaving Well-Being Programme and your Transitioning to Secondary School Programme on Seesaw. They will really stand to you in September. You are all ready for the great challenge ahead. Don’t forget to stay in touch.
To 5th class, I hope you have a great holiday and come back in August ready for a huge year. It will be a very busy and important year for each of you. Ye were great this year so next year will be no different. Keep the head down and work hard. That’s the secret. Hopefully we’ll get to compete in the volleyball/hurling/football championships next year.
To 5th class, see you in August for school. To 6th class, see you in September for your graduation.
Take care,

SUMMER HOLIDAYS!!!!!Have a party!!!!!!
Hello everyone,
Our last full week!!!!It was brilliant to see everyone in 6th class on Friday evening. It was great to see everyone so happy and looking so well. Below is the schedule for the coming week. As you can see, we have finished with the class books so we will concentrate on Seesaw activities for the coming week, except for Mental Maths. Each day you will see different Seesaw activities to attempt. Over the week there will be a wide variety of activities. Hopefully some of them will appeal to you. If the Seesaw work doesn’t appeal to you why not focus on a topic that interests you. Pick any topic you like and do a power point presentation on it. Send whatever Seesaw work or power points you want onto me. I’d love to see them. Don’t forget to keep writing your diaries every day, you’re living through history.
This week you will see a link on Seesaw for a Maths class on Co-ordinates. This is a 6thclass topic but 5th class can have a look at it too. There are no exercises to do on it but it’s good to be familiar with it for next year.
This week 6th class will complete their work on the SPHE Weaving Well-Being programme. There will be 2 lessons to work on again this week. This week we will focus on I Can Make a Difference and My Actions are Powerful. A parent needs to go through this slowly with their child. Keep all of the notes etc. as they will be great resources to have in September.
6th class will finish their transitioning to secondary school programme on Seesaw. The clip you will get this week will cover week 4 of work to be done. This week you will focus on tips to help you to concentrate, how to handle bullies/bullying and how to manage stress (as far as the end of the online workbook).
If you have any problems with anything please email me at descronin@ballyhassns.net.
Take care of yourselves. Keep getting lots of exercise and fresh air.
See you soon.

I’d love to see it. Or if you wish, you can tackle a project on something like renewable energy or fossil fuels as we will focus on energy in Geography this week.
During the week, if you’re not in the mood for academic work someday, have a look at the list I gave you in the previous weeks and pick something to do off it each day over the coming week.
If you have any problems with anything please email me at descronin@ballyhassns.net.
Take care of yourselves. Keep getting lots of exercise and fresh air.
See you soon.

Hello everyone,
I hope you are all ok. Below is the schedule for the coming week. Do as much or as little as you feel like doing. Do what works best for you and your child. Keep writing your diaries every day, just a few lines is fine.
I am so disappointed that we won’t get back together again before the end of June. We had so much more fun and craic to have but unfortunately a once in a lifetime pandemic got in the way of all our plans. Keep tipping away at the work for the moment. Everything you do now will help you in 6th class in September or in 1st year in secondary school.
Thank you to everyone for working with Seesaw. We are all learning about it together. This week you will see a link on Seesaw for a Maths class on 3D shapes. Look at the clip carefully each day and then attempt to do the exercises I have set for you in your Planet Maths. You will need to keep coming back to the clip as all of the weeks Maths are on that clip. On Tuesday and Wednesday I will be setting other non-academic tasks involving making paper planes and adding depth to drawings for you to do and to send photos to me on Seesaw.
During the week I will be putting up a clip for the 6th class only. This relates to the SPHE Weaving Well-Being programme that I would have been running in class if we were still in Ballyhass. This is a crucial programme that everyone in 6th class needs to participate in. It is a well-being programme for children specifically designed to promote positive mental health. The programme is full of great tips to help the children to prepare mentally for the challenges that lay ahead in secondary school. Each week I will do a presentation on a different aspect of the programme and will forward on all relevant paperwork that goes with that presentation. Each parent will need to sit with their child during this presentation and get the children to give their opinions and views on questions I will pose in the presentation. If each child participates fully each week they will gain invaluable life skills that will make them more resilient and give them more self-confidence when put in awkward situations down the line.
During the week, if you’re not in the mood for academic work someday, have a look at the list I gave you in the previous weeks and pick something to do off it each day over the coming week.
If you have any problems with anything please email me at descronin@ballyhassns.net.
Take care of yourselves. Keep getting lots of exercise.
See you soon.

Hello everyone,
I hope you are all ok and have settled into some kind of routine after Easter. We’re very lucky that the weather has been fantastic. For those of you who are interested in doing school work I have laid out the schedule of work for the coming week. Do as much of it as you are able to do or as much as you feel like doing. I do not want anyone getting stressed or feeling under too much pressure on account of school work. That includes children and parents!!!!!Do what works best for you and your child. If you are looking for extra work to keep you busy you can continue working on some of the project topics I gave you before Easter. Keep writing your diaries every day. You don’t have to write too much, just a few lines is fine. Don’t be afraid to write about how you feel.
Thank you to everyone for embracing Seesaw. We are all learning about it together. It was great to see everyone having so much fun doing the outdoor activities last week. Some of the clips were great. On Monday and Wednesday I will be setting some extra Maths tasks to be tackled on Seesaw. During the week I will be setting other non-academic tasks for you to do and to send photos to me on Seesaw. It’s a great way to stay in touch.
During the week, if you’re not in the mood for academic work someday, have a look at the following list and pick something to do off it each day over the coming weeks.

Hello everyone,
I hope you are all ok after the strangest Easter any of us has ever lived through. Hopefully you got to eat plenty of chocolate and got the chance to enjoy the wonderful weather we have been having. For those of you who are interested in doing school work I have laid out the schedule of work for the coming week. Do as much of it as you are able to do or as much as you feel like doing. If you are looking for extra work to keep you busy you can continue working on some of the project topics I gave you before Easter. I have already been sent some fantastic powerpoint presentations on some of the topics. It will be great for everyone to see them when we get back to school. Keep writing your diaries every day. I am still writing my diary. Some of the days are repetitive but that does not matter as we are living through history. In many years to come, you will be delighted to get out your old diary and tell your grandchildren how you lived through the pandemic of 2020.
Starting this week, we will begin using Seesaw. This is a two way online learning tool. I will send you some information/activities and you will be able to send work/clips etc to me to view. I will send you on the individual passwords on Tuesday and you can start using it then.

Hello again everyone,
I hope you are all in good form in spite of everything that is happening around us at the moment. The Easter holidays this year will be like no other!!!At least there are still Easter eggs for sale in the shops.
I won‘t be setting any work during the break for you to do but feel free to tip away at the project suggestions I gave you on Monday if you are bored and want something to do. If you do decide to do some project work do not forget to email it to me at descronin@ballyhassns.net.
The most important thing at the moment is to look after each other and be kind to each other. In particular, help your parents as much as possible. Ask to help out more at home and do extra jobs. It will be appreciated.
The following are some websites that you can investigate if you want to:
www.khanacademy.org for maths and English
www.getepic.com ……Has a huge library of books for all levels
www.pdst.ie …..for all subjects
www.scoilnet.ie huge options for all subjects
www.horriblehistories.co.uk Brilliant BBC website that brings ancient history to life
www.kids.nationalgeographic.com great Geography/History website. Covers a huge array of topics that are very relevant today.
National Geographic Kids-Youtube is another great channel to look at.
Feel free to do a project of any kind that suits you and send it onto me. After Easter I will be laying out work daily for you to tackle if you are able to do so. We will be doing English, Irish and Maths every day as well as SESE. We will also get back to brainstorming, planning and writing essays.
Keep writing those diaries. You will not regret it.
Be safe until we are in touch again. Enjoy the eggs!!!!

Hello everyone,
I hope you are all doing ok during these strange and unprecedented times. Hopefully all parents and children are coping with the unexpected situations that have been thrown at them on account of the corona virus. When the school broke up 2 weeks ago I set out general work to cover 3 weeks. Today I am giving a more structured day by day timetable for the coming week and will do the same after Easter if the school is still not opened.
The work I am laying out is for the parents/children who want to continue with their learning but the last thing I want is for the work to put unnecessary stress or pressure on anyone. People can do as much or as little as they see fit. The most important thing is that everyone is looking after themselves physically and mentally in these trying times.
I told the children to keep a diary about what happens in their lives while they are away from school. Please encourage them to write a few lines every day about what they are doing and how they are feeling. They are living through history. They don’t have to worry about reading it out in class.
If anyone wants to contact me about anything just email me at descronin@ballyhassns.net.
Be careful and be safe .Each day brings the return to normality closer.
