The final this year was a dish that each student chose, that meant something to either themselves, or their families. They had to bring the ingredients and re-create their dish within their class period.
The students also had to present their dishes to a panel of judges (teachers, aides, and staff), verbally explain why they picked their dish, then had each judge critique their dishes.
Each student was judged on the following categories: Color, Texture, Flavor, Overall Presentation, and Cooking/Presenting on Time.
Back in September, I was asked to cater a Community Schools event at Sycamore Jr High. The event was a ribbon-cutting ceremony and even had guest speakers, press, and was open to the community around Sycamore in Anaheim. I had some of my level 2 students participate and we provided the front-of-the-house service (serving) and back-of-the-house service (cooking/prepping). It was a fun experience for us to cater the event and the kids and community loved the food we prepared for them.
