Our Google Classrooms have been setup and assigned a Teacher. Most user guides will have steps for you to create a Class and add students with a code. You will not be able, nor required, to do this step.
Google has produced some useful videos for you to follow along and learn how to use the platform.
PLEASE NOTE: You will not be able to create the classrooms, this has been done for you.

There is a small question mark icon, bottom left of most pages. This will take to Google’s own set of help documents.
Go to the following link https://classroom.google.com (this will end up on the intranet home page for ease of access after our initial testing)
On first login you will be required to accept the invitation to all your classes and then, on this screen you can access all your classes.
Think of this view being similar to a Facebook feed, or a blog, with the latest posts at the top. Here you can share something directly to the class, even if it’s just to say Hi!
There are multiple options at your disposal. You can share the same comment, link, or file, with multiple classes, and selected students.
You also get the option to schedule your post for later, or save a draft so you can finish it later. The draft gets saved, then positioned at the top of the Stream page.
You can edit or delete a post by clicking the 3 vertical dots next to your post’s heading.
The Copy Link option can be useful if a student is finding it hard to find your post. For instance, if you need to go back to the start of the curriculum and show an old post. A website address will be copied to clipboard for you to be able to paste into an email or document.
On this Tab you are able to create assignments, and a few different types of content.
Click Create, and you will be able to choose different types of content for your classroom.
An Assignment can be anything you want it to be. Read something, watch something, create something.
The Quiz assignment is specifically for google Forms. It will generate a blank google form that you can edit, to set out a quiz/questionare. Google forms can also auto mark this work.
A question will be just one question with a small typed response.
Material is for you to add resources for your students. Whether that’s a crib sheet, a video, or a web link.
Reuse post is just that, to recycle an old assignment
A topic can be used to sort all of your content into different catagories. You can split your classroom materials and asignments into different subjects.
With this form you can set out instructions for your assignment and set how many points this assignment is worth. You can set when you want the assignment handed in. You can also set the Topic of the assignment. This is useful for keeping your classroom organised.
It is also possible to Schedule or save a draft of an assignment by clicking the small down arrow next to assign.
Attaching a document from your PC or Google drive, a YouTube video, or just a simple website link is all possible.
With an attached file, you get 3 options that are important to understand
Students Can View the File. This is so the Students in the classroom will only be able to read this file and not edit it.
Students Can edit the File. All the students are able to collaboratively edit the one, single file. This doesn’t let you know who has done what, and could be difficult to monitor.
Make a copy for each student. This will place a copy into each student’s personal drive ready for editing
This tab is for you to view who is in your classroom. You can email your students directly from this interface by clicking the 3 verticle dots, or you can click into each student separately and view their work.
Clicking into a student lets you review their progress and manage each student individually.
The marks page is where you can get an overview of how the classroom is doing. You can easily see if anyone has missed a deadline, or check on how your students’ scores are looking
You can use this page to mark work, and see what hasn’t been marked yet.
There are multiple ways to get to an assignment to mark.
You can use the classwork tab, and go into the assignment, then clicking “view question”.
You can go to the people tab and view what work an individual has submitted, then mark it.
Click View question to be able to mark this work.
Here we can see that two students have handed in their submissions, and one hasn’t. Clicking onto a student will show you their submission.
This was a ‘question’ assignment so we only have a one-line answer to this simple question. Next to the student’s name we can type in a score for this answer.
At the bottom of this page you can add a private comment that only the student will see. If you click Reply just below the answer, this will be a public comment that the class will be able to see, next to their Classmates’ answers.
Once you’ve finished assigning points to the work, 'return' the work to the student for them to see their score. You can click the check box next to the individual students, or select all students at once by clicking ‘handed in’; then click the ‘Return’ button above.
Google Meet has been integrated with Google Classroom to enable you to teach while you are working remotley, or work with students that are isolating.
Once you go into a class, you can create your google meet link. You can change the link visibility and other options in the settings menu by clicking the cog, top right
Once you have created a google Meet link for your classroom you should be able to see the link on the homepage of your classroom
Students cannot join the Meeting unless a teacher has joined first.
You will see this message about adding other users to the meeting, you do NOT need to do this as all students of your classroom can use the link on the classroom as long as it is visible. just close out of this window to continue.
You MUST be the last person to leave the meet, or there will be students in the meeting unsupervised.
To remove students from the meet that are not leaving, or are being disruptive, click the people button
Find the student that you wish to remove from the Meet, click the little dropdown arrow, and click the remove from meeting
