Dear families,
On Wednesday we held our May Lower School assembly — one of the ways we share and build community outside of the classroom. Our gymnasts delivered an outstanding performance, from beam cartwheels to floor tumbling passes and flips, demonstrating the strength, flexibility, and cooperation that come from months of hard work together. A dynamic beatboxing and drumming duo followed that kept us clapping in unison. We also celebrated our mathematicians who participated in the Math Olympiad, heard Spanish as a Foreign Language students speak thoughtfully about what it means to be open-minded, and recognized our grade-level Earth Projects created from recycled materials.
We closed out the week yesterday morning with a wonderful San Isidro celebration in ECC. The dancing, the color, the joy — ¡fue fenomenal!
Wishing you a wonderful San Isidro long weekend with your families.
Warmly,
Ms. Dani
It was so much fun to watch our early childhood students dancing for San Isidro. Thank you all for joining to share in the celbration!
Monthly Character Strength: Leadership
For the month of May, our character strength focus is leadership. At ASM, leadership means taking initiative, inspiring others toward a common goal, and modeling the values of our community through both words and actions.
Students who demonstrate this strength will have their names entered into a drawing at our next assembly for a chance to have lunch with Ms. Dani. We invite families to talk with their children at home about all different types of leadership and what it can look like.

MAP TESTING SPRING 2026
Next week, Grades 3-8 will be taking their Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessments. The tests are adaptive to students’ answers and provide one of the many data points teachers use to meet the learning needs of our students.
Lower School: May 21, 22, 25
Middle School: May 18-20
Make-up tests will be offered until May 29
All students test in Math, Reading, and Language Usage. The student-support staff ensures that all students who require accommodations will receive them.
All students are requested to bring a book to read quietly after they finish their exams. Middle School students will use their laptops and must ensure that the laptop is fully charged.
For more information, see the NWEA Family Toolkit. Parents will receive an email with the results in early June.
If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher or ASM’s K-12 Curriculum Coordinator at JasonDavis@ASMadrid.es.
What else is Coming Up?
REMINDERS:
SIGN UP FOR OUR SUMMER CAMP IN ENGLISH --- This year’s Summer Camp will run from July 1-31. Our camp aims to immerse children in the English language in a playful, fun, and informal way through a full-immersion camp-style approach that integrates the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Campers will learn English through educational games and hands-on projects and will also enjoy plenty of structured time outdoors each day. Many of our students have an intermediate or advanced level of English; therefore, our camp is also a wonderful option for proficient English speakers.
