Dear families,
It was a short but full week in the Lower School. Hats off to our Grade 5 writers for their wonderful publishing party. Students shared their original stories with families, reflected on their writing, and courageously asked for feedback. Across the grades, classrooms were alive with learning and creativity. Meanwhile, our gym was buzzing as we hosted visiting teams for the ISSA Volleyball Tournament. Students had the chance to cheer on some of the matches during PE, a chance to share in school spirit and to see our global connections in action.
Enjoy your weekend!

WARM CLOTHES
As the weather starts to change to cooler temperatures, please remember to send your children to school with warm clothing. It can be quite cold for students in the mornings before school starts. Also send students with appropriate clothing in case of rain, especially at this time of year.
CHARACTER STRENGTHS
Throughout the year, we will be teaching into different character strengths each month. We’ll be looking for students who demonstrate these strengths, and they will be recognized at our Lower School assemblies. This is a wonderful way to celebrate our learners while fostering a caring, inclusive, and connected school community. Here are the character strengths by month:
September - Inclusion
October - Integrity
November - Gratitude
December/January - Kindness/Caring for others
Extra Focus: Empathy)
February - Perseverance
March - Responsibility
April - Open Minded
May - Leadership
June - Courage/Bravery
Friday Football (Soccer) - On Friday mornings from 8:30–8:45, G1–5 students are invited to the field for a quick, friendly football match. The goal is simply to give kids a fun, safe, low-pressure way to play the game they love. When the whistle blows, everyone high-fives and heads to class. All are welcome!
ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS (ICAPs)
The LS assistant principals will be shifting some of their areas of support to better serve our students and staff. Whitney will continue to be the behavior and curriculum support for ECC and Grade 1. Kim will support behavior and curriculum in Grades 2-5. Daniel will support specialists, library and K-5 STEM and technology integration. You may hear from the different ICAPs for different reasons throughout the year. Feel free to reach out to any of them for support.
Smartick at Home
Smartick is a home learning resource for students to practice math, Spanish, coding, and critical thinking. If you are interested in having your child use Smartick, please fill out this form. Make sure to fill it out for each child that you have.
