Some highlights from the week: ECC students had some creative fun at OPAL by knocking down cardboard boxes on the slide. It's always fun to see your young learners at play. In grade 4 students went on a field trip to a professional recording studio to record the original songs they created with their bands.
Busy days at the kitchen shed Mud Cafe
Thanks to G5 Student OPAL Council helping out in our monthly risk-benefit assessment around loose parts in the kitchen shed. They learnt about why sorting and having easy access to loose parts helps kids get into deep play as soon as they come out to play.
Students create shade on Sancho Panza
Students will have access to extra tarps as the weather warms up.
REMINDERS:
SIGN UP FOR OUR SUMMER CAMP IN ENGLISH --- This year’s Summer Camp will run from July 1-31. Our camp aims to immerse children in the English language in a playful, fun, and informal way through a full-immersion camp-style approach that integrates the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Campers will learn English through educational games and hands-on projects and will also enjoy plenty of structured time outdoors each day. Many of our students have an intermediate or advanced level of English; therefore, our camp is also a wonderful option for proficient English speakers.

Monthly Character Strength: Leadership
For the month of May, our character strength focus is leadership. At ASM, leadership means taking initiative, inspiring others toward a common goal, and modeling the values of our community through both words and actions.
Students who demonstrate this strength will have their names entered into a drawing at our next assembly for a chance to have lunch with Ms. Dani. We invite families to talk with their children at home about what it looks and feels like to be open minded, whether trying a new approach to a problem, listening with genuine curiosity, or being open enough to change their mind.
