As part of our commitment to providing flexible and accessible educational options, we are pleased to offer several Kindergarten enrollment choices for the upcoming school year. Below is a guide to help you navigate the registration process and select the option that best fits your child’s needs:
Students attending full-day kindergarten will follow a schedule equivalent to the other grades in the school. They will receive comprehensive instruction on the state-approved standards in all content areas, including the arts, PE, and library.
Students attending a half-day kindergarten option within a full-day kindergarten class will attend school for part of the day, as determined by individual schools, and will receive instruction that prioritizes the state-approved standards for the content areas of English language arts and mathematics as required by R277-730. Please note that midday transportation will not be provided for those attending half-day kindergarten options. Students enrolled in this half-day program, offered within a full-day framework, have the option to transition to a full-day class.

Students enrolled in this half-day class will not have the option to increase to a full-day class. A minimum enrollment expectation is required to carry this class. The registration deadline for this half-day class is April 3, 2026. If you register for this class and it does not meet the minimum enrollment requirement, you will be notified after the registration deadline.
All students are required to be toilet-trained before enrolling in kindergarten. Please specify during registration whether your child is toilet-trained or needs additional communication and support.
This information helps clarify the registration process for our Kindergarten programs. Our goal is to provide flexible options that meet the diverse needs of our students and their families. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact your school's principal.
Families who live outside of the Rocky Mountain boundary may submit an out of boundary application for kindergarten. However, it is important to understand how the approval timeline works. District policy requires principals to notify families of a decision for early enrollment applications by March 31. Early enrollment applications are those received between November 15 and the first Friday in February.
At the same time, kindergarten staffing allocations are not increased based on out of boundary enrollment. Because kindergarten registrations from boundary families often continue through the summer and even into the weeks just before school begins, we are generally unable to confirm space availability in our kindergarten class until much closer to the start of the school year. As a result, early out of boundary kindergarten applications are most likely to be denied in order to comply with the required notification timeline and ensure that boundary students are fully accommodated as we seek to responsibly manage our class size.
If your family remains interested in Rocky Mountain, you are welcome to contact our school registrar, Mrs. Hanks, to be added to an interest wait list. This allows us to keep track of families who would like to attend and to reach out if space becomes available later in the summer.
Families should also know that a denial during the early enrollment window does not prevent them from submitting a new out of area application after the first Friday in February or at any later point. An out of boundary application must be approved prior to a child participating as an out of area kindergarten student at Rocky Mountain Elementary.
