Rocky Mountain families are invited to our Christmas Sing music showcase on Thursday, December 18, at 8:30am in the school gym. The program will last about one hour and will feature a holiday song from each grade level, followed by two songs performed by the entire student body. We look forward to celebrating the joy of the season with you!
Winter classroom parties will take place on the afternoon of Thursday, December 18, unless teachers have made other arrangements with their room parents. We sincerely thank our room parents for their support and time in helping make these celebrations possible for our students.
As a reminder, all volunteers must have a current background check on file through Alpine School District before participating. This includes any volunteer activity such as support during class parties, tutoring, reading with students, or help exchanging home reading books. For detailed instructions on obtaining volunteer clearance, please visit the Alpine School District volunteer webpage: https://www.alpineschools.org/page/volunteer
Class service projects will take place on the morning of Friday, December 19.
The last day of school before the Christmas break will be a minimal day with an early dismissal at 11:30am. Please note and plan for the earlier pick up time. Even with the shortened schedule, we will still offer a full lunch serve. Students are also welcome to bring lunch from home if that is your preference.
The parents of current kindergarten students (1st grade next year) will soon be able to explore education options for next school year. One of the opportunities available at Rocky Mountain is our Portuguese Dual Language Immersion program. The district’s Dual Language Immersion lottery opens December 15 and closes January 24. Please keep these dates in mind if your family is considering applying. The application will be available here on the district website.
To help families learn more, Principal Eagar has prepared a short 3-minute informational video. Rocky Mountain will also host informational meetings on January 13 at 9:45am and 1:00pm. These meetings will include an overview of the program along with a short tour of our Portuguese classrooms so parents can see what learning looks like in action in these rooms.

As winter weather approaches, we encourage families to take a moment to review Alpine School District’s winter weather procedures, including how two hour delays and online/distance learning days work. If a schedule change is needed, families will be notified as early as possible through district communication channels. Because weather conditions can vary widely across the district, decisions are made using weather forecasts, early morning road checks, and coordination with public safety partners.
