Thanksgiving Break - No School
Tomorrow is Halloween, and we have some spooktacular activities planned for our students:
Halloween Parade
Our Halloween parade will begin at 8:30am, and parents and other guests are welcome to watch from seating in the gymnasium. Please note that the parade will not reach the gym until after all students have joined the parade line, so there will be a short wait before the parade arrives. To support our Special Class students who have sensory sensitivities, these students will enter the gymnasium first. We invite everyone to help create a sensory-friendly environment by keeping the volume low and offering quiet cheers as they enter. Thank you for helping make this a positive experience for all of our students.
Costume Reminders
Students should come to school already dressed in their Halloween costumes. Costumes worn at school must adhere to the following rules:
No costumes that are gory, excessively form fitting, or revealing.
No weapons (real or fake).
Masks should not be too scary.
Face painting, wigs, colored hair, and hats are okay!
Class Parties
Class parties will begin at 1:00pm. Many thanks to our PTA room parents and volunteers who make these parties possible! All volunteers must have a cleared background check (for more details on the background check requirement, refer to the "Information & Updates" section below).

A reminder that Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday. Be sure to set your clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday night so you are on time for Sunday activities. Enjoy the extra hour of sleep!
Students are invited to share a story about a veteran in their family or community. Select stories will be featured in our Veterans Day assembly on Monday, November 10.
A paper copy of the Veteran Story form was sent home with students. If your child’s copy didn’t make it home, a PDF version is available at the link below. Completed forms can either be sent with your child to school or emailed directly to the Rocky Mountain PTA at rockymountain.pta@gmail.com, and the PTA will handle printing.

Our Lunchroom Manager has created a wonderful one-page calendar highlighting all the lunch options for November. You can view and access it by clicking here.
We love having parents support our classrooms through class parties, tutoring, reading with students, and other educational activities. Due to recent legislative changes, all school volunteers must complete a background check through the Alpine School District. It is not sufficient for un-cleared volunteers to be present alongside those who are cleared.
The background check process is free, though it can take up to two weeks to clear from the date your fingerprinting is completed. For detailed instructions on obtaining your volunteer clearance, please visit the Alpine School District volunteer webpage: https://www.alpineschools.org/page/volunteer
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe while contributing to their learning experiences!

Our school counselor, Mrs. Finch, provides a monthly newsletter for families called Counseling Corner. Each edition shares the lessons and skills she has taught in classrooms to support students’ social and emotional well-being, giving families the opportunity to follow-up to and reinforce these skills at home.
The October edition is now available at the link below, and future newsletters will be shared monthly as an available resource for families to stay informed.
Rogers & Russell, a local Pleasant Grove law firm, sponsors a Teacher of the Month program to honor and recognize outstanding educators in Pleasant Grove and Lindon schools. Teachers can be nominated by students, parents, staff, PTA members, or other community members. Each month, a selected teacher will receive a $250 deposit to their classroom foundation account.
Families who would like to nominate a teacher can complete the Google Form linked below. This is a great way to celebrate the dedication and impact of local educators in our community, especially those right here at Rocky Mountain!
Families are invited to enjoy Oak Canyon Junior High’s production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. Performances run November 19–22, with all shows beginning at 7 p.m. Many former Rocky Mountain students are part of the cast and crew, and they’ve been working especially hard to make this a wonderful production. Tickets are $7 and can be purchased online or at the door. For a QR code to access the online ticket portal, please see the flyer linked below:

InMotion Sports Programs will be hosting an after-school "Basketball Basics" program at Rocky Mountain Elementary for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The program runs Fridays, 2:20-3:20pm, November 14 through December 12 (no class on November 28 during Thanksgiving break) in the school gym. Over four weeks, participants will learn passing, catching, dribbling, shooting, scrimmaging, and basic game rules through fun, skill-building activities. The cost is $60 per student.
A Tennis program will also be offered starting in February for five weeks at a cost of $85.
Registration for both programs is available on the InMotion website, and additional details can be found in the flyer linked below.
The Rocky Mountain 6th grade Student Council could use your help in running Rocky's, our school store. Volunteers work alongside student council members as students redeem tickets for prizes. It's a fun way to see student leadership in action!
If you’re able to give a little time that day, we would greatly appreciate it. Time slots are over the lunch hour. More volunteer opportunities will be added throughout the year.
