Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball through the defender's hoop while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop.

Basketball Skills Rubric

Items Needed:

  • Ball - Basketball, playground ball, or any ball that bounces. One for each player

  • Music

Musical Dribbles

This is fun variation of musical chairs but with basketballs; reinforces the skills of dribbling and passing.

  • Everyone stands in a circle with one basketball.

  • As the music plays, each player must dribble the ball 5 times and then pass it to the next person.

    • Optional variations:

      • Players can dribble in any direction

      • Caller calls out what type of passes need to be used; bounce pass, chest pass, or overhead pass

  • Whenever the music stops, players with control of their basketball, receive a point.

  • First person to 15 points, wins. Scoring optional.
