Introducing the SEND team

Our vision at St James the Great Academy is for all children with special educational needs and disabilities is the same as for all children and young people - that they achieve well in their early years, at school and in college, and lead happy and fulfilled lives.

At St James the Great we have a referral system in place to pick up all children that might need additional support. We ensure accurate identification of all pupils requiring SEND provision as early as possible and ensure that all SEND children have access to a broad and balanced curriculum.

Edukey is a Provision Map is a management information system specially designed for SENCOs. All pupils will have a personalised passport which includes likes, dislikes, things that will help me, SEND area of need, external agency support, any assessment carried out, clubs and hobbies. SEND pupils and any pupils who need additional support will have a support plan which identifies areas that will support their learning. They will also have provisions and interventions that are done in and out of mainstream learning.

Our Local Offer

At St James the Great Academy, it is our responsibility to provide an engaging curriculum, which gives every child, regardless of their starting point, the opportunity to lead a remarkable life.

We provide a welcoming atmosphere where staff and children work together to create a happy, secure, caring and stimulating environment. This will be in partnership with parents and the wider community.

ALL children are given the opportunity to achieve their full potential, to develop responsibility, self-esteem, respect for others and their environment. This will be achieved through a broad and balanced curriculum with high quality teaching and learning experiences. This will be provided in a well resourced school that encourages creativity and co-operation and where individual efforts are valued and celebrated.
