PE
PE days are on a Friday, but this may change. We will inform you via your child and Class Dojo which day it will be if it does change.
Homework
A weekly homework task sheet will be sent home for your child to complete and return the following Friday to their class teacher. This will consist of spellings and arithmetic, relevant to their learning in class. Additional to that, we encourage you to read with your child every day at home. Can this then be recorded on their reading record. Children can read their book from school or a book from home of their choice if they'd prefer.
Reading
Children will get a new RWI book each Friday. Please make sure if your child has a RWI book, that they are brought back in school on a Friday, so your child can get a new book later that day.
Children start their day calmly by coming into school and reading a book closely matched to their phonics knowledge. Please can we have reading records in school everyday so the year 1 team can read with your child and read any comments you have written from their home reading. We also complete other morning activities related to maths.
We are currently reading Where The Wild Things Are.
Below you can find the links to some videos that will help you understand how phonics is taught in year 1 and with the pronunciation of sounds.
Why not go to your local library, watch a youtube read aloud or share some of these stories with your child.
