Year 1
Welcome to Year 1 with Miss Clayton, Miss Shapcott & Mrs Edwards
Key Information
PE
PE days are on a Friday, but this may change. We will inform you via your child and Class Dojo which day it will be if it does change.
Homework
To read with your child four times a week at home. Can this then be recorded on their reading record. Children can read their book from school or a book from home of their choice.
Reading
Children will get a new RWI book each Friday. Please make sure that books are brought back in to school on a Friday so your child can get a new book.
Every time your child reads at home and their reading journal is signed they get to move along the racing to read track. They will get a certificate and prizes for each milestone they reach. When they have read 100 times, they get to choose which book they would like school to buy for them to read!
Children start their day calmly by coming into school and reading a book closely matched to their phonics knowledge. Please can we have reading records in school everyday so the year 1 team can read with your child and write in their book and read any comments you have written.
We are currently reading The Owl And The Pussycat.
