Year 11 & 13 Raising Standards
Students from Aylward Academy, part of Lift Schools, one of the largest groups of schools in the country, are delighted to be celebrating their GCSE results today. As with A levels last week, this is only the second year that normal grading has returned since the pandemic, making these results particularly impressive. Aylward Academy has gone above and beyond to make sure students were as prepared as possible for these important exams, laying on Saturday intervention sessions throughout the year, as well as supporting students through additional tutoring, mentoring, and coaching. .
Standout results include:
Ikraam Abukar achieved grade 9s in English Literature, Business, Maths, History, and two grade 9s in science.
Ela Sahin achieved grade 9s in English Language and Turkish, and grade 8s in Science and Maths.
Ezel Toguz achieved grade 8s in Science, English Literature, English Language, Business, Computer Science, History, and Maths.
David Bardhoshi achieved grade 8s in Combined Science, Economics, and Maths
Mary Magdalene Odu achieved a grade 9 in English Language, a grade 8 in English Literature, grades 8 and 7 in combined Science, and grade 7s in History and Maths.
We are delighted that all of the above students have applied to join Aylward Sixth Form for next year.
Regional Education Director, Michael Feely at Lift Schools, said:
“It’s been brilliant to hear about all of the wonderful success stories at Aylward Academy this year – our students have done so well and have exciting futures ahead of them. This is in no small part down to the incredible work of our staff who have done everything in their power to support them through this time. Huge congratulations to year 11 and the Class of 2024 - we are so proud of you and can’t wait to see what you achieve next!”
Sixth formers from Aylward Academy, part of Lift Schools, one of the largest networks of schools in the country, are today celebrating some fantastic results at the end of year 13, with students heading off to top universities. This includes Zayann Hossain, who will be attending Imperial College London to study Computing and Anissa Hammouti, who will be studying English at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. A special well done to Emily Rocyte who has secured an accountancy apprenticeship at Thickbroom Chartered Accountants.
Today’s results are particularly impressive given this is only the second year that grading has returned to pre-pandemic standards.
To help ensure all students were as prepared as possible for their exams, Aylward Academy supported students with a range of targeted intervention strategies, including Saturday ‘boot camps’ throughout the academic year, a coaching and mentoring scheme for Russell Group aspiring students, and ensuring that every student had a range of additional resources to aid their independent study.
