OUR CURRICULUM INTENT
Given our multi-cultural, multi-lingual and multi-faith community our intent is to increase intercultural understanding and international-mindedness. Through learning another language, we aim for our students to acquire lifelong skills in a wide range of relevant topics which will open doors and opportunities in their future lives (study, work, travel and culture beyond their own).

SKILLS
The Core skills of language learning are a set of four capabilities that allow students to comprehend and produce spoken language for effective interpersonal communication. These skills are;
Listening,
Speaking,
Reading and
Writing.
ASSESSMENT
We apply live feedback for formative assessment.
Our summative assessments comprise the four core skills on a termly basis. Each half-term focusing either on Listening, Reading and Writing or on Speaking.
Individual feedback is given after each summative assessment.
STRETCH & CHALLENGE
Our Stretch & Challenge programme involves extended answers in Language with clauses.

Granada 5-day Interdisciplinary Residental Trip : the City of the Moors, which is full of cross references with History.
KS3 Musical collaboration with the Music Department whereby we co-produce a musical play in Spanish.
Flamenco club - Flamenco is an art form based on the various folkloric music traditions of southern Spain.
European Cinema club in the original language for the cinephiles.
