1. The Management agrees that a full-time Academic Program Faculty member renders service to the University for thirty (30) hours a week in campus.
2. The thirty hours in campus cover the regular teaching load, research activities, student consultations, committee works, proctoring exams, enrolment processes, meetings, seminars, growth sessions, moderatorships, and attendance in University graduation programs, service awards, college days celebrations, masses, retreats, and religious feasts, among others.
3. The regular teaching load for those with Doctorate degrees is fifteen (15) hours a week. The regular teaching load for those with Master's degrees is eighteen (18) hours a week. The reduced teaching load is to enable increased quality activity in research or outreach, appropriate to one’s academic degree and the university mission.
4. The regular teaching load shall have a maximum of three (3) subject preparations in a semester.
5. In the case of the School of Nursing, clinical/hospital orientation of Clinical Instructors necessary for Student/s Related Learning Experience, prior to students’ exposure and done during summer, shall be regarded as Regular Load/s.
b. Professional Services Faculty and Formation Program Faculty
1. The Management agrees that both full-time regular Professional Services Faculty and Formation Program Faculty members render service to the University for thirty-five (35) hours a week in campus or seven hours per day, Monday to Friday only.
2. The thirty-five (35) hours a week in campus shall cover the office related tasks/ activities, research activities, student consultations, committee works, proctoring exams, enrolment processes, meetings, seminars, growth sessions, moderatorship and counseling, attendance at school graduation, service awards, college days celebration, University masses, retreats, and religious feasts, among others.
SECTION 2. Overloads.
a. Teaching Overloads
1. The Management agrees that a Union member given teaching loads over and above the regular load as specified in Section 1 of this CBA shall receive an overload pay or hourly rate, whichever is higher.
2. The Management agrees that fourth and fifth subject preparations shall be considered as a 3-unit (54 hour) overload.
3. There is an existing “No Overload” policy during summer classes; however, the Management agrees that any teaching load given to a Union member on summer off shall receive an overload pay or hourly rate, whichever is higher.
4. The Management agrees that overload class schedules that fall on “No Class days” declared by the University or by the Government shall be deemed rendered service.
b. Office Overloads. The Management agrees that Professional Services Faculty and Formation Program Faculty members with office workloads on their scheduled summer off shall receive compensation based on overload rate or hourly rate, whichever is higher, multiplied by 108 hours (equivalent to 6 units).
1. RLE Extension/Completion Overloads. The Management agrees that services rendered by Clinical Instructors to students’ RLE Extension/Completion shall receive compensation based on overload rate or hourly rate, whichever is higher. Work done during these days shall be paid rest day, special non-working and/or regular holiday pay as mentioned in the Labor Code.
SECTION 3. The Loading Process.
a. The Management agrees to form a Loading Committee under the office of the Academic Vice President to formulate and implement standard guidelines for distributing excess loads and/or teaching assignments across college/school units within thirty (30) working days upon the approval of this CBA. The committee shall be composed of nine (9) members, three (3) of whom shall come from the Union. The Academic Vice President shall be the Chair. HRMDO and University Treasurer shall sit in the Committee for consultation purposes only.
b. The Management agrees that all faculty members under each program/ cluster shall be involved in the whole process of loading of subjects at least two weeks before classes start. Teaching loads shall be distributed with due consideration to the faculty member's expertise and tenure.
c. All things being equal, Union members shall be given first priority in the assignment of teaching loads and overloads.
d. Regular faculty members holding administrative assignment loads shall only have overload subjects after all Union members shall have been given the maximum allowable overload subjects as provided by the University loading policy; and they shall not have more overload subjects than the Union members.
SECTION 4. Absences. The Management agrees to grant Academic Program Faculty Members a maximum of 3 hours of allowable absences with pay every semester for every three-unit (3-unit) class. The concerned faculty member shall inform his/her immediate supervisor or the office prior to the absence. In excess of these allowable absences, appropriate salary deduction shall apply, after due notice, to be reflected on the next payroll cut-off.
SECTION 5. Breaks.
a. Semester and Summer Breaks.
1. The Management agrees that for the Academic Program Faculty members, the semester and summer breaks declared by Management shall be considered as days with pay without the necessity of filing any leave application for such dates.
2. The Management agrees that during the semester and summer breaks declared by Management, the Professional Services Faculty and the Formation Program Faculty members shall enjoy paid breaks for the equivalent of seventeen (17) working days for the entire school year without the necessity of filing any leave application for such dates.
b. Christmas Break. The Management agrees that the Christmas break as determined by the University President shall be considered as days with pay for all Union members without the necessity of filing any leave application for such dates.
c. Summer Off.
1. The Management agrees to grant summer off to regular Academic Program Faculty members who have served for five (5) consecutive full academic years, including summer. A summer off shall consist of a two-month vacation (April and May) with pay following the completion of the tenth (10th) academic semester of service, and every third summer thereafter. Specifically, loading for the succeeding summers shall follow the 6-3-0 loading scheme on a three-summer cycle basis.
2. The Management agrees to grant regular Professional Services Faculty and Formation Program Faculty members summer off every third summer of service.
3. Educational grants availed of by a Union member, official and authorized leaves except for personal leaves shall not be considered an interruption in the enjoyment of summer off. In case the leave falls on the summer off, the Union member shall defer availment of the summer off to the next available summer.
d. University Activities During Breaks.
1. The Management agrees that Union members are not obliged during breaks to attend or participate in any school-sponsored or authorized seminars, in-campus symposia, evaluation, planning, growth sessions, thesis defenses for students, and other related activities.
2. No school-sponsored or authorized seminars, in-service trainings, other related staff development programs, in-campus symposia, evaluation, planning, growth sessions, thesis defense for students, and other-related activities shall be scheduled outside regular working days.
3. Service rendered outside or beyond the required number of hours or during breaks as approved by Management shall be translated to compensatory time off credit to be availed of within the school year up to May 31.
