Morning Message 3/18/2020

It’s ‘GO TIME’. Today will be the start of a different kind of schooling for all of us. I see that many of the students have already peeked into their Google Classrooms, or read about their other classes. I will be sending out a parent survey on Friday about our experience this week. Please complete and submit so that we can tweak our process to fit the needs of our school family.

Attendance

Because we are an amazing school whose faculty and staff need to have instructional contact with your child, we will need to take attendance. Each of the buildings within ACS have an attendance process that works best for them. With SV, I will send a link to a Google Form Student Attendance SV. Please complete and submit the form for each of your children each school day. Between this form and the teachers receiving your child’s work, seeing engagement on the various assigned sites and Google Classroom…or even becoming Math Masters, we will be in compliance with the DPI. If you are having trouble opening the form, please politely send a reply to this email about child's attending to instruction and we will work on our link.

As we do in the office each day, contact is made to the family when we are missing our precious kiddos at school. Please make sure to let us know that things are going well at your house; that your student is engaging in instruction. The teachers are on the front line of the virtual learning and will call to make sure all of their students are accounted for throughout the day.

Morning Announcements

Along with the attendance form, the morning pledge and prayer will be linked as a voice recording. Your child will still be able to begin their days as we usually did all together. A great activity would be for them to find or create an American flag to put in their work area. As time goes on, we would like to include our students saying the pledge. If you would like your child to open our day, please send a recording to me. We used Vocaroo, but there are others out there.

AR and Books

AR quizzes will be able to be taken at home. It’s best practice to be taking these quizzes within 24 hours of reading the book. If you are running out of books, check out the Nekoosa Public Library site, as of today they were still offering out books. Give them a call to find out the process. myON is still available with many online books, along with Audible, YouTube Kids, and Scholastic to name a few. Do a search because many companies are waiving their fee. Looking for authors to read their books? Then make sure to choose ‘read to’ before taking the AR quiz.

Schedule and Sanity

Earlier I had sent a sample schedule. I sure hope you were able to set something up for the sanity of your family. Not all instruction is expected on the screen. There is quite a bit of work that will need to be completed offline.

This is a great time to make memories with your family. Please share any photos (appropriate of course, please be careful of what is in your background…lol) so that we can create our own SV memories. This will sure make our yearbook different from any other year.

Peace to you and wash your hands,

Mrs. Fochs
