8th Grade Program

The 8th grade program is the second year of a two sequence, which allows you to complete, level I by expanding and building on your knowledge from 7th grade. This class meets everyday for 40-45 minutes, all year long. You are required to keep an organized notebook. You will receive homework most nights as well as preparing for quizzes, tests, and projects. Your grades will be based on the ACFTL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages) Standards in:
Interpersonal - Conversations between two or more people
Presentational - Speaking and Writing
Interpretive - Listening and Reading Comprehension
Language Comparison - Grammar and Vocabulary
Cultural - Practices and Perspectives
The focus of the program is to have you learn to use the target language to communicate about your daily lives and activities. During the year, you will gain an insight into other cultures through readings, music, food, art and various projects. You are required to use the target language whenever possible in the classroom. You will use an online textbook and are required to keep an organized notebook.
