The lumbar plexus is a nervous plexus of the peripheral nervous system supplied by the VPR of spinal nerves L1-L4. The psoas major m. is a very important landmark for identifying lumbar plexus nn. as they enter the abdominal retroperitoneum lateral to (iliohypogastric, ilio-inguinal, lateral femoral cutaneous, femoral), through (genitofemoral), or posterior (obturator, lumbosacral trunk) the psoas.
