It is hard to believe we have reached the end of the 2020 school year. This is our last communication update for the year and I know our learners and staff are looking forward to a break to be ready and refreshed for 2021.
From all of us at Stonefields School, we wish you a safe and happy holiday and we look forward to seeing you again in the new year.

At the start of next year, we will be introducing a new initiative - Parent / Teacher Conversations.

I am sure you will join us in saluting and thanking each and every one of these staff members for their significant contribution to our learners and Stonefields School as a whole. Click here
We are excited to share the school organisation for 2021 with you, it has taken some time to land the full picture, as I am sure you can appreciate there are many moving parts, there are many more pieces to the puzzle!

If your family is leaving our school and moving to another school that does not use ezlunch or Kindo for school payments, you need to close your account. If you’re not sure about the new school, log in, go to My Details and click on the list of schools, scrolling to find your new school.
If your new school is NOT on the list, use the 'close account' button on that screen. You can choose to donate your balance to school or have it paid out to your nominated bank account.
As technology has become more prevalent in society even our preschool children are increasingly adept at using tablet and smart phone technology and are increasingly fluent and demanding (of what technology can do) at a younger age. A decade ago we thought Year 5 was the entry point for a keyboard and increased digital capacity. Now year 3 children are more than competent digitally and are looking for ways to seek knowledge.

As a school, we have made a decision to move to Chromebooks for Years 3-8. Some of the important motivators to our decision are:
Chromebooks connect young learners in a way that gives them powerful opportunities to collaborate with their peers and to manage their learning. Advances in the ease of access to the learning environment and applications platforms make this device the one we now identify as the best fit for empowering this cohort.
iPads will continue to be used in sets of 20 throughout the school.

Should you have any questions regarding moving from iPads to Chromebooks, please email Bob Miller on bob.miller@stonefields.school.nz
An information evening will be held at the start of Term 1 2021.
It was great to join with Pt England and Panmure District for Tamaki Athletics last week. Despite a number of obstacles our schools and Sport Auckland brought their best together to facilitate a great event. It was great to see such a high level of competition and new friendships being formed too.
A huge thank you to all of our whānau who helped and supported on the day. We couldn't have done it without you.
Well done to Ana and Illy who competed at Auckland Athletics Champs last week. This was an awesome achievement for Illy, qualifying after his first athletics competition. A huge congratulations to Ana who placed 3rd in the Yr 8 Girls Discus. Tau kē!
As the year draws to a close we'd just like to say a sincere thank you to everyone who has supported our sports programme this year. We are thrilled to see Sports at Stonefields continuing to grow but couldn't do it without the support of our community. Your time and expertise are very much appreciated. Bring on 2021!
The ESAFC after school football programme offers a high energy, fun, creative and age-appropriate physical activity through football. Coached by New Zealand Football accredited coaches and players who have represented NZ on the world stage our programme has been carefully designed for both boys and girls. Our ESAFC coaching philosophy and curriculum emphasises both the physical and social development of our children.
All sessions provide a fun, playful, safe environment which encourages children to develop a positive sense of themselves, respect for others, a positive disposition to learn new skills, whilst promoting a healthy and active lifestyle.
Session at Stonefields School will start on Wednesday 10th February 2021 and run until 14th April 2021.
Cost: $150 per term for 10 sessions. All sessions will run on a Wednesday from 3:15pm - 4:15pm
