Alert Level 3 Update

Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,

As you will be aware from the Government announcement this evening, Auckland will remain at Alert Level 3 until 26th August 2020.

Our first distance learning experience from all accounts was successful. We did however learn a considerable amount and want to ensure that phase two builds on this and the feedback we received from you during lockdown. In particular our approach to support years 0-2 has evolved the most.

The ⅓, ⅓, ⅓ Philosophy is still relevant in that as a family depending on your situation you can choose the extent to which you engage with the learning that has been designed and provided through SchoolTalk. We appreciate that COVID-19 will be impacting each Stonefields School family differently.

If your situation is such where you have small amounts of time we encourage you to prioritise the first 1/3 by engaging in the start of the day Online Connects where the teachers hold workshops for different groups of children. These items are highlighted red in the SchoolTalk calendar.

The second 1/3 Furthering Learning is either teacher designed learning that follows on from a teacher workshop or it is relevant basic knowledge learning utilising an online resource like steps, Epic, Basic Facts etc.

The third 3/3 is Other Optional Learning Opportunities. A wide range of life skills, projects, breakthrough, music, Art, PE and Te Reo learning experiences are offered.

Once again we want to reassure you that it is up to you and your family’s situation on how much you and your child engages in the learning we will continue to design and provide at a distance. For some, an hour a day will be success, for others a usual school day timespan will be necessary so working from home can continue. Trust your judgement, you will make the best decision for your family.

Each week your child’s learning week will be outlined and accessible on SchoolTalk by 9:00am Monday morning. We encourage you to check your child’s calendar each day to see what learning the teacher has designed for them. This learning will change and evolve each week to meet changing needs.

The two key links remain the same these are:

SchoolTalk

SchoolTalk is where all learning designed for your child can be accessed. The best way to access the learning is by viewing the learning calendar. Click on each of the coloured boxes to view the learning designed for your child.

Top Tip - learning events are either red or green. Green indicates the learning is a choice, red is stop and join a teacher workshop in hangout or it’s particularly important learning. To join a Google Meet (Hangout) look for the link the teacher has provided in the red events. Click here to see how
