The LGBT+ and Womens’ Societies have joined together to form the Liberation Society! This society acts a safe, social space to get to know each other and chat about experiences and topics that students feel passionately about. All are welcome!
Fundraising Club
The Fundraising Club meet to plan fundraising activities in College for varying charities, and then, with the support of staff, carry out the fundraising on campus.
They meet to plan fundraising activities every other Thursdays at 4:15pm in Upper Student Central at City campus.

Learn British Sign Language
We have recently launched extracurricular sessions for any students who want to learn some British Sign Language basics, from a student at the College.
This is a great opportunity to meet new people and expand your skills! Why not get involved and learn something new?!
These sessions run every Thursday 12:15-1pm in the Well-Being room in the Library at City campus.
GCSE Maths Study Group
Some students studying GCSE maths have set up a study group. This is for GCSE maths students to help support each other, revise together and do homework.
They meet every Tuesday 4-5pm in the Well-Being room in the Library at City campus.
All GCSE maths students are welcome!
Focus Group for Online Safety
The Sheffield Children’s Safeguarding Partnership wishes to speak with 10 students to understand their experience of the world online. With a view to them using their voice to inform safeguarding training in relation to Online Safety across the city for all professionals.
There will be snacks/refreshments available on the day. It will be on Wednesday 1st February 2023 at City campus.

At this time of year lots of students are thinking about applying to university or Higher Education following college. If you are applying for entry in Sept 2023 then please be aware the college internal deadline for UCAS applications is 15.12.22. Meeting this deadline will ensure you can benefit from the full quality approval process from the Careers Team, helping you to have the best application you can (and you can relax over the Christmas break then!) Careers appointments
You can book a personal careers guidance appointment by either scanning the relevant QR code on posters around campus, via the My Hub app or by clicking below:
You can also use the careers drop-in service to get support with quick queries such as feedback on a personal statement, CV or application, information about careers or support with using our resources. These drop ins are currently available:
City Campus (in Upper student central) on Wednesdays 9:30-10:30am, Thursdays 1:00-2:30pm, and Fridays 9:30-10:30am
Hillsborough Campus (in Student Central) on Tuesdays 11:00 – 12:00am and Thursdays 1:00-2:00pm

The Business and Enterprise academy at College bring in guest speakers and experts to run free workshops and talks for students in the Chamber Academy Lecture Theatre at City campus.

'Thinking Creatively and Innovatively' Skills Masterclass with Careers Adviser
Tuesday 6th December 2pm-3pm
In a rapidly changing society, the skills of creativity and innovation have never been so important, for all sectors and subjects. Join us for this interactive masterclass where we briefly explore the skills and their importance for the future.
Lots of people think the skills of creativity and innovation are innate, but this masterclass will demonstrate that creativity is a skill which can be developed. There will be activities to help you think outside of the box and you will leave with a range of strategies to help you think more creatively which can be applied to a wide range of subject and sectors.
'Thinking Outside of the Box' with Entrepreneur Tim Latham

Would you like to learn how to think more creatively? Are you interested in learning strategies to help you become more innovative?
Tim will be delving into the meaning of both Creativity and Innovation, how these integral skills are used in the world of work and why they're so important for your future. You will learn some powerful takeaway strategies to help you improve your ability to think outside of the box. Tim will be sharing some key, golden nuggets of advice that he's learned throughout his career to help you go further with yours!
This session is certainly not one to be missed.
Would you like to start up your own business? Why don’t you join our Start Up programme?!
Start Up is a free 10-week programme delivered alongside your course or Apprenticeship with the aim of equipping you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to take the first steps to start up your own business or become self-employed. Every week we will have an exciting expert and influential guest speaker join us, to walk you every step you need to go through, to start up your own business.
You'll be supported on your Start Up journey with business ideas generation, planning, sales and marketing strategies, networking, pitching an idea for investment and much more. Throughout the course, we collaborate with Sheffield Hallam University and Sheffield Technology Parks to offer you the opportunity to take part in regional events to pitch your business idea to potentially secure funding and mentoring!
The programme is available for students who are Level 3 and above and Apprentices. There is also some flexibility for students who show commitment and are on courses which aren't Level 3.
When will the programme run?
Cohort 1: Monday 9th January - Monday 20th March
Cohort 2: Monday 27th March - Monday 26th June
The programme will be delivered from 10:30am - 12pm in the Chamber Academy Lecture Theatre, City Campus.
