Penguin Problems by Jory JohnLife as a penguin is not fun. It's cold and snowy, everyone around you looks identical, if you want to eat you have to get wet, everyone is always squawking, and there are many things trying to eat you. It's hard for this penguin to look on the bright side.

This is one of those great kids' books that has just as much humor and message for the adults who read to them. If you like Lane Smith's other work and other recent all-ages kids' books such as The Book With No Pictures, Penguin Problems will be a great choice for you.

School's First Day of School by Adam Rex

This heartwarming picture book is about the feelings a new school building has on its first day. After spending months getting built and then cared for by a loyal janitor, the school is finally ready to welcome the children. It is so excited to open its doors to kids eager to learn and play, but it gets discouraged when not all the kids want to be there.

This wonderful story shows that everyone is nervous trying something new, and no one is perfect at anything on their first attempt.

Both of these wonderful books are available now at the Spruce Mountain Primary School Library!
