Spruce Mountain Primary and Elementary School students are hearing the powerful story Emmanuel's Dream in the library. This Chickadee nominated book tells the true story of Emmanuel Ofosu Yeboah, who was born with one leg and rose to become an extraordinary athlete and leader for rights of people with physical disabilities. His dream was to show that "being disabled does not mean being un-able." (quote from the book)

He got a bike and supplies donated by an athlete's charity in the US, and he biked 400 miles across his country to prove that people with physical differences can achieve amazing feats. He proved that everyone deserves access to education, opportunities to work, and other basic rights. Our students saw video footage of Emmanuel riding his bike and telling his story to enrich the book's powerful message.
