The students of SMMS have been researching Wabanaki culture, and are now broadening to learn about various Native American cultures of the 1600s across North America. Before beginning their research, we collaborated to help the students focus on what they needed to know. We used the Big6 strategy of Task Definition to help students focus their information needs. They created very specific questions to answer, then recorded them in a packet they could use to keep their notes. It really helped them collect the information they needed quickly. Here are their class notes.
