  1. Before the internship

    • Ask for background information so you can be prepared for the work you are gong to conduct

    • Contact your host to make sure you know the orientation dates and the logistics for you to settle in

    • Close the project in NCSU and send Karen a note to check out with FREEDM

    • Send me an email so I can terminate your RA contract. (You cannot be paid from RA and it will create problems if we don't terminate the contract)

    • Ask friends around to see if you can collect some useful information about how to be successful at the organization

  1. During the internship

    • Dress up and be professional

    • Finish your assignment on time

    • Go to seminars and learn what is going on in that institute

    • Mingle with your fellow interns and your co-workers

  1. At the end of the internship

      • 1) Clean up your stuff and do not leave a mess after you left.

      • 2) Turn in all the documents (e.g. key, badges, exit forms) required and organize your document to transfer it to your mentor.

      • 3) Do not try to copy or download project information that is not allowed!

      • 4) Invite your mentor out for lunch and get his feedback and suggestions on your performance during the internship.

      • 5) Send a thank you note to them as they have taken their own time to supervise you and guide you through projects.

      • 6) Have a safe trip back to Raleigh

      • 7) Prepare to introduce your intern experience to the other students as we will host a seminar for all the students who are on internship to present their experience (20 minutes followed by Q&A)
