Ongoing Teaching of Expectations--The expectations are retaught at different times throughout the school year. Individual skills are taught as needs arise throughout the school year.
Classroom Expectations Posted--The classroom expectations are posted on a shield within each classroom.
Stop, Think, & Go Bears--This technique empowers children to catch themselves before they start to lose control, encourages them to think about the consequences of their actions and motivates them to behave in a way which will solve the situation.
Lunchtime Theater (MAES)--Lunchtime Theatre gives the students the opportunity to perform reading scripts for their peers during the four lunch groups. The chance to experience performance reading enhances and develops an inner confidence in the students reading. It is a motivating factor to be a great reader and performer. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to increase their self-esteem and create a common bond between students as they watch and become performers, thus helping to link students throught the school.
Parent School Satisfaction Survey--Parents are asked to give feedback on how comfortable they feel with the staff and facilities. Additionally, parents comment on our communication systems and whether or not we give them enough information on the various programs offered at our schools.
Student School Satisfaction Survey--Students are asked to give feedback on how they feel about being at school, if they are recognized for doing good things, if they are encouraged to be creative, and if their classes help them.
Classroom Meetings--Classroom meeting are conducted by the classroom teachers on how to get along with others. Teachers or students are able to bring up concerns as needed.
School and Community Expectations Posted--The expectations are posted on shields at MAES and SES for the Hallways, Cafeteria, Playground, Bathroom, Bus, Crosswalk, and All Settings & Community.
Classroom Guidance (7 times/class)--Supplemental lessons are provided by guest speakers and classroom teachers. Letters go home to inform parents of classroom activities
Shield Recognition--The students work for individual small shields as they are caught following the school expectations. The small shields are placed on our large shield to earn a school wide celebration.
Golden Dust Pan--Each classroom works each week to be responsible by keeping their classroom clean. The winning classroom earns a reward.
BUGSS Club (4th grade only)--Busy Using Good Study Skills is a 4th grade incentive program to reinforce students for completing assignments on time. Students are rewarded in their classrooms and with special luncheons.
Principal Consults--Staff, parents, and students are welcome to seek assistance as needed from the building principal.
All School Celebrations--The students earn all school celebrations by filling the large shield with small shields. These celebrations are things such as Movie Day, Beach Day, and Picnic Lunches.
Second Step Programs--Second Step is an evidence based social skills curriculum that promotes self-regulation which can help kids with academic tasks and social skills. This program covers empathy, problem solving, and anger-management.
