The board of education recognizes the benefits and supports the development of PreKindergarten -12th grade intervention programs.
The Medford Area Public School District will make every reasonable effort to help ensure that each student learns the necessary skills, concepts and content of the course or subject area in which he/she is enrolled. Appropriate intervention (classroom or pull-out) and/or tutoring programs shall be provided at all grade levels. The intervention team at each building will decide the placement of students in intervention programs. The building administrators, who may sit on each team, will review all team placements and transitions. If the building administrators questions a placement, the intervention team will be reconvened to review and discuss the placement. The director of curriculum & instruction will be responsible for coordinating the intervention programs, budgets, and staffing district-wide.
Staff are expected to employ personalized instructional methods and utilize a variety of resources in providing intervention beyond the formal intervention program.
The district will maintain a Response to Intervention (RtI) Handbook which outlines specific procedures on how this policy will be implemented.
