5th Grade Decision Rules
Universal Screeners Used:
Decision Rule: If a child receives a Basic or Minimal score, the child may be recommended for further testing.
Bench Mark Assessment for leveled literacy
Decision Rule: If a child is leveled at a level of S or lower, in the fall of the year, the child maybe recommended for further testing.
Diagnostic Tests Used:
AIMS Web RCBM (fluency) and AIMS Web MAZE (comprehension) will be administered to all students who are being considered for reading intervention.
GORT-4 for rate, accuracy and comprehension will be administered to students who are being considered for reading intervention.
CTOPP will be administered to all students who are being considered for the Fast ForWord program.
WJ III - Five subtests of the Woodcock Johnson reading test will be adminstered to students who are being considered for reading intervention. The subtests used are: comprehension, word attack, letter word identification, spelling of sounds, and fluency.
Upon entering each program, each student will be assessed with the program specific assessment for proper placement.
