If you missed Financial Aid Night, extra packets and materials will be available at the Greeter's Desk in front of the high school main office starting Monday, October 24. Feel free to stop in and pick up materials anytime from 7:30am to 3:50pm.

Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers: Valley Forge Chapter: If you are applying to Temple or Drexel as an Engineering Major...this scholarship is for you. The Valley Forge Chapter of PSPE (Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers) operates a scholarship program open to high school students who either (1) live in or (2) attend high school in Montgomery County or Chester County and plan to pursuing an engineering degree. Other Chapters of PSPE may also have scholarship programs geared to students in other counties. Applications for the Valley Forge Chapter program are routinely sent to, and may be obtained from, your high school guidance department. The Pennsylvania Society and the Maguire Foundation Scholarship: This scholarship opportunity will provide 25 scholarships (up to $200,000 in renewable scholarships) to Pennsylvania high school graduates who stay in-state to pursue higher education. Seniors at all Pennsylvania high schools (including public, private and home schools) can apply through November 1, 2016 for scholarships ranging up to $8,000 per year. If they meet eligibility requirements, they can renew these awards for up to three years or until finishing a Bachelor's degree (whichever comes first). To qualify: Students must plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited, non-proprietary four-year college or university in the state of Pennsylvania for the entire 2017-2018 academic year, Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent), and Demonstrate financial need. SUMMER/SPECIAL PROGRAMS: START PLANNING NOW!
Interested in business or health care careers? Would you like a culturally diverse summer educational experience? Are you a current 10th or 11th Grader?
The Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship (PSGE) at Lehigh University held July 2 - July 29, 2017 and the University of Pittsburgh Health Scholars Academy (UPHCSA) held on June 25 - July 22, 2017, former Governor's School programs, are accepting applications for the 2017 summer programs. Current high school sophomores and juniors are encouraged to apply.
The application deadline is February 15, 2017.

10th and 11th Graders: PFEW Applications are NOW Available: Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week 2017 is a unique and challenging program designed for high school sophomores and juniors. PFEW furnishes a perfect opportunity to learn about career opportunities that students may not have considered. What will you do at PFEW? By acting as an executive management team and running your own business, you and your peers will learn about our free enterprise system. With the task of turning an “imaginary company” into a financial success, you will determine selling prices, marketing costs, budgets for production, research and development, financing and stock options. You will develop your own marketing strategies and design an advertising campaign. In essence you will make all the decisions that are demanded of real life company executives. Throughout your PFEW adventure, you will meet and work with some of Pennsylvania’s top executives. Representing career fields including law, engineering, manufacturing, advertising, environmental protection, computer technology, and politics. These inspiring professionals will share their motivational success stories with you. INTERESTED? Pennsylvania State Police Youth Week is a program designed to increase understanding among the state's youth and its law enforcement and to give first hand experience in the many areas of law enforcement including leadership, discipline, and self-esteem. You will learn how to work as a team and be taught self-esteem, as you will be the future Leaders of our state and nation. There will be classes in Pennsylvania Vehicle and Crime Codes, forensic sciences, radar, riot control, tactical drug operation through the use of specially trained dogs, weapon firing, and other police related skills. Students should be physically fit, in good health, and have a good academic record. Any female or male student between the ages of 15-17 can participate in the six-day camp on June 11-17, 2017 at York College of Pennsylvania in York, Pennsylvania. FEE: 150.00 which includes meals and lodging. The fee is paid by the sponsoring post/unit or other civic group and is non-refundable. 11th Grade Males: Pennsylvania American Legion Keystone Boys State is a unique week long FREE summertime educational program that does not emphasize classroom lectures and textbook learning. It is an activity born out of a need for youth training in practical citizenship, leadership and to instill a working knowledge of the structure and operation of government. The program runs June 18 - June 24, 2017 at Shippensburg University.
Eligibility Criteria: 1. Only males who have successfully completed their junior year of high school and have at least one semester of high school remaining are to be considered. 2. Any boy who has previously attended a boys State is not eligible to attend a second session. 3. Only boys with outstanding qualities of leadership, character, scholarship, loyalty, and service to their schools are to be considered. Boys State was founded in 1935 to teach young men about the rights, privileges and responsibilities of American citizens. The program focuses on hands-on participation in simulated city, county, and state governments. Operated by students elected to various offers, activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, intramural sports, law-enforcement presentations, etc. If you have a male junior who is interested in the law enforcement, law, military and/or military academies this is a nationally recognized program!!!! Don’t miss out.

Saturday, October 29, 2016, 1pm to 4pm: NACAC STEM College and Career Fair, Columbia University, Learner Hall. This fall, NACAC will host three pilot STEM College and Career Fairs to augment its National College Fair programming for students interested in pursuing college opportunities beyond high school. The new programs will concentrate on science-, technology-, engineering- and math-related educational and career opportunities. Click HERE to register.
The fairs are free and open to the public. Secondary school students, parents, and educators are encouraged to attend, particularly those with a high interest in STEM fields along with those who are curious about what STEM majors could offer them.
