6) KYW Newsradio Newstudies Program 2018 -- Who: High School Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors -- What: KYW Newsradio Newstudies Program 2018

Since 1967 KYW Newsradio has given high school students the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of a major market radio station with the Newstudies student reporter program. During four Saturdays in October students will learn reporting, news writing, editing, ethics and interviewing skills from KYW Newsradio managers, editors, and reporters. At the end of the Newstudies program there will be a graduation ceremony. To graduate from the program students must research, write and record a news report about something in their school or community. The student’s report will air on KYW Newsradio 1060AM and a podcast of the report will be posted online.

Reports from the 2017 class can be heard here: http://kyw1060info.com/newstudies/

Several students will receive special awards for their accomplishments. One student will be awarded the $2,000 Richard Monetti Scholarship, one student will win a brand new laptop computer and ten students will receive $100 gift cards for their outstanding performance.

Why: Newstudies is a wonderful program that will show you the inner workings of a major market radio and TV station.
