FOR FRESHMEN: REMINDER -Guidance has posted information and instructions in the Class of 2023 Google Classroom for the Freshmen to complete their Individualized Career Plan Survey in Naviance. It should only take students about 3-5 minutes to complete this task.  I encourage parents and students to do this together as a fun activity.

FOR SOPHOMORES:  REMINDER - Guidance has posted information and instructions in the Class of 2022 Google Classroom for the sophomores to complete their Do What You Are Personality/Career Assessment in Naviance. It should only take students about 45 minutes to complete this task.  I encourage parents and students to do this together as a fun activity.  Here is the LINK to the packet we want students to use once they complete their assessment.

Week of April 20th – The College Essay Workshop

FREE Virtual College Fair sponsored by PACAC – Thursday, April 23, 2020:

In light of recent college fair cancellations across our region and nationally, we have partnered with StriveScan and other associations around the country to provide a virtual alternative. Through unprecedented collaboration, we are excited to announce the Strive Virtual College Exploration Week, which will provide a unique and diverse program for the students as they begin to navigate their postsecondary options. PHEAA Financial Aid Webinar – Thursday, April 23, 2020, 6pm: I wanted to let you know that PHEAA will be offering a webinar on Thursday, April 23, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM to gain a complete understanding of the financial aid process.  Representatives from the Pennsylvania Higher Education Agency (PHEAA) will be providing an overview of how to apply for all types of financial aid, including completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is required to determine eligibility for most student aid programs such as the Pennsylvania State Grant, Federal Pell Grant, institutional offers, and federal student and parent loans. This will also be a great opportunity to have PHEAA representatives answer questions you may have. CLICK HERE to register for the April 23 webinar.

Verto Virtual College Fair:

When: Friday, April 17, 2020 - 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. ET

What: Each college will have their own “booth” that students and counselors can enter to engage with colleges and universities, including admission counselors and staff from Verto Education

Who: We expect to have 40 colleges and universities attending the virtual fair, from William & Mary, Temple, University of Tennessee, Clark University, University Of Oregon, and Case Western and Butler to Rhodes, Goucher, Lewis & Clark, and many, many more.

FOR SENIORS: 

Please continue to check your email regarding specific information from the colleges you have applied to; most schools at this point have canceled their Accepted Student Programs and/or Orientation Programs. You may also need to log into your school portals to see if messages have been posted there.

IMPORTANT NEWS - The Jenkintown Scholarship Application and the Jenkintown Graduation Form are now available – students MUST turn in these forms using the Class of 2020 Google Classroom (we will not be accepting hard copies). The deadline to turn them in (via Google Classroom) to Ms. Kafkalas is Wednesday, May 6, 2020.
