Download records at http://muse.jhu.edu/cgi-bin/book_marc_html.cgi and save to shared drive \TECHSTAFF\GenLoad\MUSE\ in dated subfolder:

To run the monthly Python script from Windows:

1. In the GenLoad folder on the shared TechStaff drive, go to the MUSE file, open the file Search Muse Site folder and double-click on the Muse.exe application and follow the onscreen directions:

   1. Choose a destination folder:

      1. Create a new subfolder within the main Muse folder by clicking on Make New Folder and following the naming convention (e.g., 2016_04)

   2. Enter a Start Date:

      2. 1. Type "y" and Enter

         2. Enter date as prompted: YYYY-MM-DD (include the hyphens)--usually the 1st date of the previous month

   3. The script will run and any updates found will be saved to the folder you just created.

Edit

Open in MarcEdit, making a note of the number of records in each file:

Modifications to make with MarcEdit:

1. Remove all 07x fields (if exists)**

2. Remove all 082 fields**

3. Remove all 830 fields``

4. Update/Edit any indicators from 490 1\ to 490 0\``

5. Remove 050, subfield b~~

6. Remove 856, subfield z^^

7. If Project Muse has failed to correctly set the 337 a and 338 a fields, be sure to update those to be computer and online resource respectively.

** because we don’t use non LC call numbers for ELEC resources
