Coin Power
Have you ever taken a bit of aluminum foil? If you have a tooth with a filling, you would look similar to this woman:
What is going on in your mouth that feels so bad? We will find out in this exploration. Coins are stacked together in a certain order and tested like a battery.
Materials Required
• Sandpaper
• Post 1982 pennies
• Tagboard (In this experiment they use tagboard, but you can cut several pieces of paper towel that work just as well)
• Salt water and vinegar
• Light Emitting Diode. ( These can be purchased or found in many discarded electronic devices such as old yard lights or flashlights. You may send an inquiry to mjaeger@eou.edu and receive an LED if you choose)
