September 2020 Lesson #2: CURIOSITY

Post date: Sep 21, 2020 1:20:5 PM

This lesson is for the counseling classroom from September 21st through October 2nd

Hey friends!

This is our second counseling lesson for the 2020-2021 school year and our second lesson for the month of September!

This lesson sees us continue our learning about the character word CURIOSITY. If you remember, last lesson we looked at Counselor Cody's Bitmoji classroom and I challenged you to practice your CURIOSITY and to get on your teacher's CANVAS page and explore the stuff that Counselor Cody has provided. Remember....in order to find all the "hidden" surprises in the Bitmoji classroom you must practice CURIOSITY and take time to explore everything!

We also learned about Leonardo Da Vinci and how he was a student, teacher, scholar, painter, sculpter and inventor. He achieved all of these things through being curious...and that was over 500 years ago. In fact, many of his inventions we still use today as well as enjoy many of his paintings.

This week we are going to continue learning about CURIOSITY by hearing about Mae Jemison. Mae Jemison spent her life being CURIOUS and learning many new things. She is a great example for us to look at and see the importance of setting goals and working hard to achieve those goals. Clink on the link below to learn more about Mae Jemison:

CURIOSITY and MAE JEMISON

We are also going to talk a little bit about what it means to be a "whole body listener" and how that helps us to learn about the things we are curious about. You can check out this video for more:

WHOLE BODY LISTENING

I hope you enjoyed that video about Mae Jemison and Whole Body Listening. Here are some activities you can do about the videos we just watched:

If you are still CURIOUS about CURIOSITY....then check out a few more videos on the character word CURIOSITY from one of our most famous CURIOUS friends....CURIOUS GEORGE!

I wish you well friends! See you soon!
