Spanish Pathway

Prerequisite: None

Course Description: Spanish I is an elective, two-semester course, which introduces the basic communication skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It is designed to promote an understanding of the Hispanic culture, ways of life, social needs and attitudes. Basic vocabulary, dialogue, grammar structure, and conversation skills are studied. Technology will supplement learning by connecting students to Spanish-speaking communities.

Prerequisite: Spanish I

Course Description: Spanish II is an elective, two-semester course, which enhances the basic communication skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It is designed to promote an understanding of the Hispanic culture, ways of life, social needs, and attitudes. Basic vocabulary, dialogue, grammar structure, and conversation skills are studied. Technology will supplement learning by connecting students to Spanish-speaking communities.

Prerequisite: Spanish II

Course Description: Spanish III is an elective, two-semester course,which continues to enhance communication skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. This class is designed to further the fundamental skills in language usage and be introduced to more difficulty. The class will place emphasis on the reading comprehension skill, to provide opportunity for self-expression in speaking and writing. Students will be introduced to more of the nuances of the language and the culture of the Spanish-speaking world.

Prerequisite: Spanish III

Course Description: Spanish IV is an elective, two-semester course. This course continues to enhance communication skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. This year there is a concentrated effort toward ability of expression in Spanish through conversation and written themes. Spanish IV continues to put emphasis on the nuances and difficulty of the language. Students will read the works of many Spanish/Latin American writers. There will be further study of Hispanic people, their history and their culture. Students should be ready to attend college courses in Spanish and succeed, after finishing our program.
